The Sacrament of Penance II (TSPII) is an interactive performance dedicated to the students and teachers of Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK). Participants call the UdK Gatekeepers and confess their sins over the telephone. Two Gatekeeper priests answer the calls, listen to the confessions, and assign performance tasks as penances.

Gatekeepers are always near artists but rarely participate in the school’s art activities. Some wish to engage with students by striking up conversations, sharing jokes, or offering sweets. During quiet hours, they draw, read, or write. Let us embrace their time and enthusiasm by inviting them to become performance artists—gatekeeping the sins of the art school and becoming the first Gatekeeper artists in Germany.

This performance is part of An Experimental Ecology. Art practice in the dialogue of disciplines at the UdK Berlin 50th anniversary special event.
