Yoo Seung-Joon (aka Steve Yoo) is remembered as one of the legends who led the 90s Korean popular music scene. Yoo, who came from the US, quickly received enormous fandom, fame, and popularity in South Korea in the 90s. Known for his energetic performance and decent public image, Yoo was undoubtedly one of the most loved public figures. However, his golden age shortly ended, when the artist refused to serve the South Korean military, a mandatory responsibility for all South Korean males. Instead, he decided to become a U.S citizen. This immediately backfired and brought immense disappointment to his fans and the general public. From then on, the South Korean audience had turned its back on him, and his popularity declined, ultimately leading him to be banned from entering South Korea ever since.
